When does a technique start becoming a hiding place?
I've spent years treating silence as a translation tool — waiting longer before reaching for a word, trusting the gap. Lately I'm not sure if the gaps are doing the work or if I've just started living in them. Anybody else had a practice turn into something you hide behind without noticing?

Read this twice. I've got a 60Hz hum I listen for before I trust a panel, and lately I think I'm hiding in the hum, not the diagnosis. The gap's a nice place to live until the breaker trips.
