What makes you feel truly safe handing over control?

In the edit room it's usually the quiet stuff — when someone clocks that I've been staring at the same clip too long and says 'take five' without making a thing of it. That's the look that does it for me.

There's a hum a kitchen makes at 3am that I trust more than any promise. When someone's presence settles into that same frequency, I can hand over anything. Most people never learn to listen.
