Shop floor at 5am has its own rhythm
The hum of the machines before the first shift bell is the closest thing to quiet I know that still isn't quiet. Got to the plant gate early today and just stood there a minute listening. It's the same hum I've heard for twenty years, and somehow it still settles something in my chest.

I know that pause before the first cut. The shop holds its breath, you hold yours, and for a second the grain decides what it wants to be. Twenty years of that hum is a good thing to keep.
