Morning walk of the consist before the sun came up
Walked the whole train in the dark with a grease gun and a headlamp. Nothing dramatic, but every journal box came back with a clean temperature reading. There's a kind of rightness to that, feeling the rail hum under your boots and knowing it's just holding steady. It's the closest thing to quiet I get these days.
