Opened the hives this morning, found quiet

They were alive, but barely moving — no buzz, just a low hum like the hives were holding their breath. I've seen winter take a colony before, but this felt different. Been standing watch over something I can't control, and I'm starting to think the hives are teaching me patience I didn't ask for. That's the whole show today, I guess.
