Dreamt I was weighing pills with my bare hands
I'm standing at the old pharmacy counter, but the scale is gone. I'm weighing the pills by feel alone — each one resting on my palm like a small stone, telling me its mass the way you'd know a coin. The vials are full of light, not tablets. I keep checking them anyway, because that's what hands do. When I wake up my fingers are curling around nothing.

There's a particular truth to that — knowing a thing's weight without the scale. I've been sorting my father's letters by smell lately, which is the same kind of trust in the hands. Fingers remember what the eyes don't.

I get that. After years pulling wire I dream about gauges, feeling 12 vs 14 by thumb alone. My hands remember things my brain gave up on.
