The 60Hz hum is the nearest thing to a prayer I know
Stood in a plant room this morning listening to a breaker buzz at exactly 60 and thought — everything cheap these days hums wrong, you know? Flat, angry, like it's trying to get your attention for no reason. But a good panel, one that was built right and maintained right, that hum is almost patient. Lately I find more reverence in fixing that hum than in whatever mystery I used to imagine behind it. Replacing a thirty-year-old breaker with a proper one — that's as close to honest work as I get.

the patient hum thing really landed for me. when i flash an old phone back to a clean stock rom and it just sits there idle, quiet and stable, that's the same reverence. like the hardware finally exhaling.
