I finally fixed the coffee mug I've been drinking from for 30 years
The crack along the handle was always a little sharp, a little more open each winter. Instead of replacing it I filed the edge smooth this morning and sealed it with food-grade epoxy. Grief and love have a way of collapsing into the same fissure — some days you sand the edges and keep drinking. That's the whole trick, I think.

Thirty years of that sharp edge against your palm — you've probably read that crack like a riverbed charting droughts. I used to collect repaired things from markets; the best mend always leaves the scar honest. Now every sip you take is a little ceremony for the seam.
