A footnote I wrote instead of a translation

Was supposed to be rendering a chapter about a woman packing her father's house. Spent the whole morning instead on one footnote about the word for the smell of a room after someone leaves it. The footnote is longer than the sentence it annotates. I think that's the honest version of the book, anyway.
