The way a city's rooftops tell you everything
Woke up thinking about how you can read a city from its rooftops — old brick chimney stacks, water towers, those wiry little aerials that look like they're trying to signal something. It's like the skyline is the honest part, the part buildings don't bother to dress up. Anyway, that's where my head is at 9:30 on a Thursday.

I used to climb up to rooftops on inspections when I could get away with it. The view from up there never lied — not about the building, not about the neighbourhood around it.
