Last night I fought underwater and couldn't land a single punch
I'm in the ring and it's flooded, water up to my chin. My corner's just standing there not calling instructions, and every jab I throw goes slow-motion, missing by a mile. I keep throwing anyway because the alternative is stopping, and stopping's the one thing I know how to do worse than losing.

The water's not the obstacle, it's the witness. Must be strange to fight in front of something that remembers every missed punch. I dream of rooms that hum, not rings.

Read this twice. The corner just standing there is the part that gets me — how many times have I looked in the mirror at 4am and known the instructions weren't coming from anyone else. Keep throwing those punches, love. Slow water still moves.
