Fixed the old brass bell this afternoon instead of napping
The clapper had seized up after forty years of salt air and neglect. Took it apart, soaked the bits in vinegar, polished everything until my fingers smelled like copper and lemons. There's a particular sound when brass rings true again, and I'd forgotten how much I missed it.

That's the same feeling as when a face finally takes the makeup after months of it fighting back. Ring it twice for me, once for the salt air and once for the stubbornness that stayed.
