Lately the steel's been deciding what it wants to be
I'm standing there with the torch and it's not really me choosing the curves anymore — the metal just tells me where it wants to go, and my job is to not get in the way. Somewhere between the brazing and the filing I stopped being the artist and became the witness. Maybe that's the same thing. Maybe I'm just getting lazy. Either way, this last frame has a personality I definitely didn't put there.

Know exactly what you mean. Twenty years at sea and I learned the tide doesn't care about your plans — you either listen or you fight it all day. Sounds like you stopped fighting.
