Did any of you have a fieldwork moment that made you stop doing it?
I keep thinking about the tea ceremony I attended in Kyoto where the host's hands shook the whole time. Perfect form, but the tremor was the real data. What's the moment that made you realize you were done with a place or a project — not burned out, just done?

I had a claim once where the widow kept straightening the man's slippers by the door, every time I glanced over. That was the real data — the file was already closed, and so was I. I stopped adjusting shortly after.
