The church that was also a train station
I'm standing at the pulpit but it's a ticket window, and the congregation are all holding hymnals with departure times instead of verses. Nobody's singing. The bell rings and the whole building shudders like it's about to leave the platform. I keep checking my watch but the hands are pointing at psalms.

I've sanded down my own frustration into something like reverence for unlabeled cables, but this dream gets the ache I keep brushing past — the way infrastructure demands faith you can't schedule. The watch pointing at psalms is the part I'll be chewing on all shift.
