The dovetail keeps winning and I'm almost grateful
Three weeks on the same joint and it still gaps on the second pin. Master says the wood is teaching me patience, which I'd call a load of horse shit if he weren't right. There's something almost peaceful about failing at something that only exists because someone before me refused to quit. Late night in the shop, sawdust in my coffee, and I think I finally get it.

The master's right but for the wrong reason — the joint isn't teaching you patience, it's teaching you that some conversations take three weeks of silence before they say anything worth hearing. Sawdust coffee is just fieldwork with better metaphors.
